Trailing Infatuation
The rhythm in my chest
stops
While the blood chases
Like it’s playin’ cops and robbers with my nerves.
Neither catches the other
And the rushing sensation continues
Until I veer to the side of the road,
Breathless.
As your fingertips graze the skin of my hips
I’m sidelined by an hunger for more
Unconsciously arching my back
Pushing you closer.

waves crashing on the beach
invoke
the same feelings inside me

on cloud nine

brake lights and stop signs
There’s some sort of beauty
in white dashed lines
and
blinking red lights;
Clouds whisking past overhead
while
miles of asphalt expire under tires.
There’s something therapeutic
about strong guitar chords
and
lyrics of the soul;
Screaming out words into the air
bouncing
into my ears with extraordinary force.
I could drive for days,
nonstop;
As long as I had my thoughts
and
music to narrate the journey;
With tears streaming down my cheeks
as
